Descriere
Istoria distileriei Oban incepe incepe in 1794 cand aceasta a fost construita inaintea orasului cu acelasi nume de azi, si a fost construita in portul Oban pe coasta de Vest a Scotiei. In momentul de fata distileria este detinuta de giganticul Diageo. Aceasta are doar doua pot stills-uri ceea ce o face una dintre cele mai mici distilerii din Scotia si care produce un whisky care a fost descris ca avand o aroma West Highland care se incadreaza intre stilul uscat si frumos al insulelor scotiene si cele mai usoare si dulci Highlands. Aceasta a fost infiintata de fratii John si Hugh Stevenson si a fost operata de ei pana in 1866, cand a fost cumparata de Peter Curniste dupa care aceasta a trecut pe la mai multi detinatori pana intr-un final a ajuns la gigantul Diageo.Oban 14 ani este un single malt produs inca in aceiasi metoda traditionala, neincurcata, acesta fiind un clasic al acestei distilerii. In jurul acestui whisky si impreuna cu el a crescut si o statiune aglomerata de pe litoral in cele 2 secole de cand a fost produs pentru prima data acest whisky, in orasul Oban.
