Descriere
Rebeliunea din anul 1745 a impartit Scotia in doua in acea vreme, punand fata in fata clanuri versus clanuri. In jurul anului 1815, doi frati, Donald si Alexander Johnston, au inchiriat undeva in jur de 500 de hectare in Islay pentru a creste vite. Aceste teren este cunoscut acum sub numele de Laphroaig. Au urmat multe alte probleme dupa acest an, razboaie, foamete insa in anul de dezvoltare si revitalizare a distileriei a fost anul 1921 cand Ian Hunter, fiul lui William Hunter a preluat conducerea distileriei, facand ca pana in 1923, capacitata lui Laphroaig s-a dublat, si malturile, asa cum sunt si in zilele noastre, au fost finalizate.Laphroaig 10 ani Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, este distilat si azi, la fel cum o facea si Ian Hunter acum mai bine de 75 de ani cand a inventat procedeul. Acest whisky este fundamentul tuturor celorlalte expresii Laphroaig. Pentru a face Laphroaig, maltul de orz este uscat pe un foc de turba. Fumul din aceasta turba, gasita doar in Islay, ofera whisky-ului Laphroaig arome deosebit de bogate.
