Compass Box are o istorie nu foarte lunga, incepe in anul 2000 atunci cand Josh Glaser, un fost director de marketing de la Johnnie Wlaker, credea ca exista prea multe companii care produc si vand whisky scotian la fel. Un american mutat in Marea Britanie si care a lucrat pentru un distilator de renume mondial, a vrut sa faca lucrurile diferit pentru a aduce mai multor oamenii bucuria whisky-ului scotian. A infiintat un alt tip de companie ce creeaza whisky scotian, bazata pe modelul pierdut de multa vreme al casei de amestecare a whisky-ului Scotch, dar cu o abordare de viitor si o dorinta neobisnuita de a crea calitate.Denumirea de Compass Box Oak Cross vine de la faptul ca incrucisam maturarea acestui whisky intre butoaiele de stejar american si butoaiele de stejar francez. Acest whisky combina aromele de vanilie din butoaiele de stjar american cu nuante picante si cuisoare din butoaiele de stejar francez. Aceasta combinare intre butoaiele de maturare ofera whisky-ului o bogatie suplimentara si o complexitate asemanatoare condimentelor cu aspecte fructate ce amintesc de mere sau pere coapte completate de un caracter bogat si nuante de stejar.Miros: Acest whisky imbina arome usoare dar indraznete de argila, flori, condimente cu note de nuca de cocos, arahide si nuante de stejarGust: Gustul este unul aparte, dulceag nu note de miere si naunte picanteFinish: Finish-ul este unul picant cu note de unt si paine prajita
