Descriere
In anul 1966, Mark Edwin Andrews a cumparat Castelul Knappogue, un castel din sec XV-lea din Irlanda, care era atunci in ruine, iar el si sotia sa, un arhitect, s-au angajat apoi intr-un program ambitios de restaurare in efortul de a readuce structura la starea initiala de glorie si grandoare. In aceasta perioada, Andrews a inceput sa cumpere butoaie de whisky fin de la distilerii de top din tara, butoaie ce au fost ulterior imbatranite si imbuteliate sub ceea ce este acum Knappouge Castle. Knappogue Castle 16 ani este invechit timp de minimum 14 ani in butoaie de bourbon, apoi este finisat in butoaie de sherry Oloroso pentru a completa minimum de 16 ani. La acestea de adauga note de nuca si de sherry complexe. Miros: debut proaspat si usor dulceag. Fructe negre, stafide, cu usoare note de vanilie si caramel. Apar prune, bomboane cremoase si o componenta de nuca.Gust: moale, usor cremos, diluat la prima incercare, apoi vine o nota alcoolica pe palat. In plus, o senzatie usor prafuita, pamantie. Abia treptat vin fructele si o usoara dulceata.Final scurt, usor cald, putin amar spre ciocolata.
